Why are some providers available “online” and some are available by “phone?”Dependent on the time of day, day of the week, and Internet accessibility, providers may present themselves as available online or by telephone. If they are available online, you can reach them via the Internet and by phone. If they are available only by phone, you can connect only via telephone for that particular provider at that particular time.
What is the difference between NowClinic online care and other online care services?NowClinic online care is staffed with licensed, credentialed physicians. Unlike an e-visit where the patient emails a provider and then waits for a response, NowClinic online care offers real-time care over the web1 or phone. When you use NowClinic, you’ll even be able to grant providers access to your online health information, so they can provide more informed care. Plus, NowClinic maintains a complete medical record for all online sessions, so you can store records and share them with other providers.
Why are you offering NowClinic online care? Access to quality care is an important issue for Americans, and studies have shown consumers have an increasing desire to get care anytime – not just during the 40 hours a week when their primary care clinic is open. We created NowClinic online care to meet that demand and allow you to take charge of your health. With NowClinic, you can speak with a provider of your choice who understands your needs and is able to provide care anytime from anywhere. NowClinic also extends care access to patients in rural area as well as those who are home bound and can’t get in to see a provider.
In addition, as consumers are asked to assume a greater share of the cost for care, NowClinic offers a convenient, affordable alternative where cost is completely transparent.
How does NowClinic online care work? With NowClinic online care, all you need is a computer with internet1 access or telephone to access care. How it works:
1. Go online to myNowClinic.com.
2. Click on “Register/Create Account," create an account and choose a provider.
3. Converse like you would in an exam room via Webcam or secure online chat.
4. Pay online when the conversation is complete.
If you have a Webcam, you will even be able to see each other. The provider will be able to answer your questions and write prescriptions3, if he or she feels it is clinically appropriate.
When the session is over, you can share the visit notes to other providers as appropriate. A complete record of each visit is kept for you, so you can go back and access it at any time.

You will need a computer1 to enroll with NowClinic online care, but once you have enrolled you can speak with a doctor over the phone anytime.

How do I find the right provider for me?If you want to connect with a provider right away, login and click one of the buttons under the words “Talk Now.” NowClinicSM online care will then connect you to the first available physician, specialist, or clinician.
You may also choose a provider from a wide selection of those who are online and available, from primary care providers to specialists. You may search for a particular provider by name, or you can enter specific search criteria, such as language spoken or distance from your home.
If you’re not sure what kind of provider you want to speak with (for example, if you have a headache), NowClinic can help find a provider for you. After you answer a few simple questions about your symptoms and your health, we can provide a list of the available providers who can address your health needs. We can even provide a list of questions for you to ask during your online visit.
Are the doctors more or less considered a part of a call center? No. Our doctors have defined times to be online and are only available to NowClinic patients at that time. They can be located at their clinic, home, or office during this time. They are not part of a call center and have patients they see face-to-face at their clinics on a regular basis.
How long is one session? The standard medical visit is ten minutes long. If after the initial ten-minute visit you and the provider agree more time is warranted, you may extend the visit in predefined increments at an additional fee. It is important to note that most NowClinicSM online visits are completed within the initial ten minutes.
Other types of providers, such as therapists, offer different session times. You will be able to review session length (e.g., 20+ minutes for therapists) and costs before you see the provider.
Can a provider prescribe medication as part of a NowClinic online care visit?Yes. If the NowClinic provider believes medication is warranted, he or she can write a prescription3 for non-narcotic medications, which can be sent right to your preferred pharmacy. Please note, some state laws require that a provider can only prescribe medication to an existing patient, or based on an in-person examination.
